The National Testing Agency issued warnings that paper-leak claims for the NEET UG 2026 exam circulating on Telegram and WhatsApp are fake.
This development follows a massive controversy during the 2024 exams, leaving lakhs of aspirants concerned about the fairness and integrity of the medical entrance process. The current instability threatens the mental health of students and the credibility of India's premier medical admissions test.
The NEET UG 2026 exam took place on May 3, 2026 [3]. In early April 2026, the NTA published initial warnings urging students to remain vigilant against fraudulent claims. Despite these alerts, reports of a "guess paper" emerged after the exam.
Rajasthan Police Special Operations Group is currently investigating a guess paper that allegedly contains more than 100 matching questions from the official exam [1]. Other allegations have cited a guess paper containing 120 questions [4].
"These claims are fake; candidates are advised to follow official updates only," the NTA said [3].
Internal agency records show the NTA received inputs regarding potential malpractice on May 7, 2026 [4]. The agency escalated the matter to central agencies for independent verification on May 8, 2026 [4].
"Strict action is underway against those circulating fake NEET paper leak claims," an NTA spokesperson said [1].
Another NTA official said, "We have received inputs regarding malpractice and have escalated the matter to central agencies for independent verification" [4].
“"These claims are fake; candidates are advised to follow official updates only."”
The contradiction between the NTA's blanket denial and the Rajasthan Police's active investigation into a high-matching guess paper suggests a systemic vulnerability in exam security. If central agencies verify that a significant number of questions were leaked via a guess paper, it could trigger widespread demands for a re-examination, mirroring the instability seen in 2024.
