BJP national president Nitin Nabin announced a new national team of office-bearers and morcha heads on Monday.

The reshuffle aims to strengthen the party's organizational structure before the 2027 state-assembly elections and increase the visibility of women in top leadership ranks.

Among the senior appointments, Smriti Irani was named General Secretary [2], and Vasundhara Raje was appointed Vice-President of the BJP [3]. Piyush Goyal was assigned the role of Treasurer [4]. The new team also includes Vinod Tawde in a key position [6].

A significant portion of the revamp focuses on gender representation. Ten women were appointed to the new national team [1]. This includes a high concentration of women in the vice-presidency, where six of the 13 national vice-presidents are women [5].

The leadership changes also involve removals from previous roles. Amit Malviya was removed as the chief of the BJP IT cell [7].

The appointments of Irani and Raje, both prominent figures in Indian politics, signal a strategic move by Nabin to consolidate experienced leadership across different regions. By integrating a larger number of women into the core decision-making body, the party seeks to broaden its appeal among female voters ahead of the upcoming electoral cycle.

This restructuring indicates a tactical pivot by the BJP to prioritize gender inclusivity and veteran experience as it enters the 2027 election cycle. By promoting women to nearly half of the vice-presidential slots, the party is likely attempting to mobilize a critical female voting bloc while refreshing its digital and organizational strategy following the removal of the IT cell chief.
