The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has opened the re-evaluation and re-checking process for Class 10 and Class 12 answer sheets.
This process allows students to challenge their marks and identify potential errors in the grading of their final examinations. Because these results determine eligibility for higher education and competitive streams, any marking discrepancy can significantly impact a student's academic trajectory.
The board said the re-evaluation process became available after the CBSE declared the Class 10 and Class 12 results online on May 13, 2025 [1]. The system is designed to provide a transparent mechanism for students to verify their performance through a series of steps.
Students may first request a photocopy of their evaluated answer sheets. Once the photocopy is received, they can apply for a verification of the marks. This verification typically involves checking if all answers were marked and if the totals were calculated correctly, a process intended to eliminate clerical errors.
The board said it provides these services to ensure that no student is unfairly penalized by a grading mistake. The request process is handled through the official CBSE portals, where students must submit the required applications and fees to initiate the review.
While the board maintains a structured system for these requests, reports indicate some students remain anxious about the outcome of the re-checking process. The board has not issued a specific statement regarding these concerns, but the availability of the photocopy serves as the primary evidence for students to support their claims for a mark change.

The re-evaluation window is a critical administrative safety net in the Indian education system. By allowing students to obtain photocopies before requesting a formal re-check, the CBSE shifts the burden of proof to the student to identify specific errors, which prevents the board from having to re-grade millions of papers without cause.
