ACES India Private Limited and Reliance Jio have signed an agreement to provide 4G and 5G mobile connectivity across the Mumbai Metro Aqua Line-3.
The partnership aims to eliminate connectivity gaps for commuters traveling through the underground network. High-speed mobile access in transit hubs is critical for the digital integration of urban transport systems in India's financial capital.
The agreement spans a duration of 25 years [1]. Under the terms of the deal, the companies will deploy the necessary infrastructure to ensure that passengers on the Aqua Line, the city's third metro line, have seamless access to high-speed data.
Reliance Jio will leverage the infrastructure provided by ACES India to extend its network coverage into the metro's tunnels and stations. This deployment focuses on both 4G and 5G technologies to accommodate various device capabilities among the passenger base.
The project focuses specifically on the Aqua Line-3, which is designed to alleviate congestion in Mumbai's dense urban core. By integrating advanced telecommunications into the transit architecture, the companies intend to improve the overall commuter experience.
This collaboration marks a significant long-term commitment to infrastructure development in Mumbai. The 25-year timeline [1] suggests a strategy focused on sustainable network evolution rather than short-term installations.
“ACES India and Reliance Jio have signed an agreement to provide 4G and 5G mobile connectivity across the Mumbai Metro Aqua Line-3.”
This long-term agreement reflects the increasing necessity of 'in-tunnel' connectivity as urban populations rely more heavily on real-time data for navigation and productivity. By securing a quarter-century contract, Reliance Jio and ACES India are positioning themselves to manage the lifecycle of connectivity hardware as it evolves from 5G to future generations of mobile technology.
