The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced that revaluation of Class 12 results begins June 1, 2026, following technical failures with its portal [1], [5].
These changes follow widespread student grievances regarding the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. Technical glitches led to payment failures, delayed access to results, and blurred scans of answer sheets, prompting a government response to ensure transparency in grading [4], [5].
To mitigate the impact on students, the board reduced the costs associated with challenging marks. The revaluation fee has been lowered to Rs 100 per copy [1]. This is a decrease from the previous fee of Rs 700 [3].
Additionally, the board reduced the cost for answer-sheet verification. The new fee is Rs 25 per question [1]. This replaces the previous charge of Rs 500 [3].
The board said that the glitches within the OSM portal have been fixed to allow for a smoother revaluation process. The announcement regarding these fee cuts and the resolution of the technical issues was first made on May 17, 2026 [1], [2].
Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the OSM system is student-centric and that all discrepancies would be fixed [4]. The move to lower fees aims to make the verification process more accessible to students who believe their marks were incorrectly totaled, or affected by the blurred scans [5].
“The revaluation fee has been lowered to Rs 100 per copy.”
The reduction in fees suggests the CBSE is attempting to restore public trust in its digital marking infrastructure. By lowering the financial barrier to revaluation, the board acknowledges that the OSM portal's technical failures may have compromised the accuracy of initial results, shifting the burden of proof away from the students.
