Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta addressed the 'Youth for Viksit Bharat - MY Bharat Youth Convention' in New Delhi.
The event signals the Indian government's strategy to integrate young citizens into the national development framework to achieve a developed nation status by 2047. By recognizing diverse forms of achievement, the administration aims to mobilize the youth as the primary drivers of nation-building.
The convention took place on June 6, 2024, at the Thyagaraj Stadium [1]. More than 6,000 participants attended the gathering [2], which served as a platform to honor a wide array of young contributors to Indian society [3].
Among those recognized were My Bharat volunteers who successfully cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exams. The event also highlighted the contributions of young athletes, startup founders, and content creators. Youth icons, including actor Vikrant Massey, were honored for their influence and achievements [3].
Mandaviya and Gupta said the youth play a role in shaping the future of the country. The program focused on empowerment and the celebration of individual successes that contribute to the broader goal of a developed India, a vision known as Viksit Bharat [4].
The gathering combined formal recognition with motivational addresses to inspire the attendees. By bringing together students, entrepreneurs, and artists, the convention sought to create a multidisciplinary network of young leaders committed to the 2047 timeline [4].
“More than 6,000 participants attended the gathering”
The convention is part of a broader socio-political effort to align the aspirations of India's massive youth population with the government's long-term 'Viksit Bharat 2047' roadmap. By honoring not only traditional civil servants but also startup founders and content creators, the state is expanding its definition of 'nation-building' to include the digital and entrepreneurial economy.
