South Korea is seeing a return to early-summer conditions as rain stops and temperatures rise across the peninsula.

This shift follows several rainy days, bringing a sudden increase in heat that requires residents to adjust their daily attire and preparations.

Weather presenter Jung Soo-hyun of YTN said that the weather is clearing and early-summer conditions will reappear during the day [1]. Current temperatures in major cities were recorded at 15.1°C in Seoul [1], 15.4°C in Daejeon [1], and 16.1°C in Daegu [1].

Forecasters expect daytime temperatures to rise by about 10°C from their current levels [1]. The high for the day is expected to reach up to 26°C [1], which is approximately six degrees higher than yesterday [1]. Low temperatures are expected to remain around 15°C [1].

Despite the general clearing, atmospheric instability remains a factor. Jung said that some areas in north-western Jeollanam-do may experience isolated showers during the afternoon [1]. Because of this instability, residents in those specific regions are advised to carry a small umbrella [1].

"Today the weather will clear and early-summer weather will appear again during the day," Jung said [1]. Regarding the localized rain, Jung said, "There will be places where showers pass through the north-western part of Jeollanam-do in the afternoon" [1]. She said that people in that region "should carry a small umbrella in their bags" [1].

Early-summer weather will appear again during the day

The rapid swing from rainy conditions to temperatures reaching 26°C indicates significant atmospheric instability. While the majority of the country is transitioning into a warmer seasonal pattern, the persistence of isolated showers in the southwest suggests that the region is still experiencing volatile weather transitions common during the onset of the summer season.
