Police arrested four people and seized 1.5 kilograms [1] of ganja in the Ayyan Kondan village of Virudhunagar district on Saturday.
The operation highlights ongoing efforts by Tamil Nadu authorities to intercept the illegal transport of narcotics across state lines. The seizure underscores the role of inter-state trafficking routes in moving illicit substances into southern India.
Authorities identified the arrested individuals as M. Nallamadan, 39, T. Tamilarasan, 19, P. Jayabharathi, 21, and K. Ganeshraj, 22 [1]. The four suspects were taken into custody after police discovered the illegal possession of the drug in the village.

The arrests involved a group of four [2] individuals of varying ages. Police conducted the operation in the Virudhunagar district, which is located in the state of Tamil Nadu.
Law enforcement officials seized the narcotics during the intervention. The suspects remain in custody as the investigation into the supply chain continues.
“Police arrested four people and seized 1.5 kilograms of ganja.”
This incident illustrates the persistence of long-distance drug trafficking pipelines between eastern and southern India. By tracing the origin of the ganja to Odisha, law enforcement can better map the logistics and networks used by smugglers to move narcotics into Tamil Nadu.
