Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram in the Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh on Aug. 1, 2024 [2, 3].

The facility is named after Alluri Sitarama Raju, a prominent revolutionary figure. The airport's location in the Vizianagaram district is expected to alleviate pressure on existing transit hubs, while attracting new commercial investment to the northern part of the state.
