The New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA Authority) plans to connect the Sector 82 City Bus Terminal to the upcoming Jewar airport.
This move aims to breathe life into a significant infrastructure investment that has remained largely unused since its opening. By linking the facility to the new aviation hub, officials hope to justify the project's cost and improve regional transit for passengers.
The terminal was constructed at a cost of Rs 158 crore [1]. Despite the investment, the facility has struggled to attract consistent usage since it was inaugurated in 2022 [2]. The current strategy seeks to transform the site from a failed asset into a critical node for airport connectivity.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the facility is a "gift for the public" [2]. The integration with the Jewar airport is expected to create a streamlined corridor between Noida and Greater Noida, reducing the burden on other local transit points.
Local planners said the terminal's location in Sector 82 provides a strategic vantage point for commuters traveling toward the airport. The initiative is part of a broader effort to synchronize urban transport with the state's expanding aviation infrastructure.
Officials said the connectivity plan will allow the terminal to serve as a primary transit point for travelers. This shift in utility is intended to ensure the Rs 158 crore [1] expenditure results in tangible public benefit through increased ridership, and improved accessibility to the regional airport.

The decision to link the Sector 82 terminal to the Jewar airport reflects a corrective approach to urban planning in Noida. By pivoting the terminal's purpose toward airport logistics, the government is attempting to mitigate the financial loss of an underperforming asset while preparing for the massive increase in passenger traffic that the new airport will generate.
