South Korea will see clear skies nationwide on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, with temperatures reflecting early summer heat [1].
The forecast indicates a transition toward warmer seasonal norms, though localized rain may disrupt activities in specific mountainous provinces.
Weather caster Won Ida of YTN said that early-morning low temperatures across most areas dropped to around 15 °C [1]. This temperature is lower than both yesterday and typical levels for this time of year [1].
Despite the cool start, the country is expected to warm up significantly by midday. Seoul is forecast to reach a high of 28 °C, while Gwangju is expected to hit 30 °C [1].
"Seoul midday temperature 28 degrees, Gwangju 30 degrees, early summer heat is expected to appear at this time," Won said [1].
A high-pressure system is maintaining the sunny conditions across most of the peninsula [2]. However, the stability is not universal. Localized convection in the southern Gangwon and northeastern North Gyeongsang mountains is expected to trigger brief weather changes [2].
Isolated showers are predicted for southern Gangwon, and the mountainous regions of North Gyeongsang [1]. These showers are expected to be brief and will likely bring about five mm of precipitation [1].
"In southern Gangwon and mountainous areas, and northeast North Gyeongsang mountains, noisy showers of around 5mm are expected in the afternoon," Won said [1].
“Seoul midday temperature 28 degrees, Gwangju 30 degrees, early summer heat is expected to appear.”
The presence of a high-pressure system is driving the current warmth, but the interaction between this system and localized mountainous terrain is creating the instability necessary for isolated showers. This pattern suggests a typical early-June transition where nationwide stability is punctuated by regional volatility in higher elevations.
