Creator-showrunner Katie Dippold said the writers' room for the second season of "Widow's Bay" is underway.

Speaking during Deadline’s Contenders Television: The Nominees Studio virtual panel this week, Dippold provided a status report on the creative process. She said the team is currently in week three [1] of the writing process. While some reports suggested the process had just begun, Dippold specified the current progress and said the atmosphere of the room is fun.
According to Dippold, the writers will remain in the room for the next 20 weeks [2]. This window suggests a rigorous development phase to map out the narrative arcs for the second season.
During the panel, the conversation also touched upon the atmospheric influence of the show's setting. Dippold compared the fictional island setting of the series to the Welsh hometown of lead actor Matthew Rhys. She said that Rhys' hometown shares characteristics with the island, a comparison that highlights the series' focus on isolated, evocative geography.
