Police have charged a 30-year-old man [1] with two counts of second-degree murder [1] in connection with a double homicide in Regina.
The arrest marks the third person taken into custody for the incident, signaling a broadening police investigation into a violent crime that shocked the Al Ritchie community.
The charges were announced on Wednesday morning, Aug. 12 [3], following a double homicide that occurred the previous day on Aug. 11 [3]. The incident took place in the 1,100 block of Elphinstone Street [2, 5].
In addition to the murder charges, the man faces one count of possession of a firearm when prohibited [1] and one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm [1].
Authorities had previously arrested two other individuals in relation to the case [4]. While some reports have differed regarding the timeline of the event, official charges announced this month link the suspect to the August killings [3].
The investigation remains active as police process evidence from the Elphinstone Street scene. The unnamed suspect remains in custody pending further court proceedings.

The charging of a third suspect suggests that the double homicide may have involved multiple participants or a coordinated effort, rather than a lone actor. As the case moves toward trial, the inclusion of firearm prohibitions indicates that police are focusing on the legality of the weapons used in the Al Ritchie neighbourhood attack.
