Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said India deserves a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council.
This endorsement signals a diplomatic alignment between Slovakia and India, highlighting the growing international recognition of India's global influence and leadership.
Fico praised the administration of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, describing the 12-year [1] rule of the leader as a "political miracle," he said.
The Slovak leader linked this tenure to India's rising stature on the world stage. Fico said that the nation's trajectory justifies its pursuit of a permanent membership within the UN Security Council, the primary body responsible for maintaining international peace and security.
India has long sought a permanent seat on the council to better reflect current geopolitical realities. Fico's public support adds to a growing list of nations acknowledging India's role as a major global power.
"India deserves a permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council," Fico said.
The Prime Minister's comments emphasize a perception of stability and growth under Modi's leadership [1]. By framing the tenure as a miracle, Fico positioned India as a pivotal actor in the current international order.
“"Modi's 12‑year rule is a political miracle"”
Slovakia's support for India's permanent membership in the UN Security Council reflects a broader trend of non-permanent members and strategic partners endorsing India's bid. This move underscores India's efforts to leverage its economic growth and diplomatic ties to reform the post-WWII global governance structure, which many argue no longer represents the modern distribution of power.
