Canon has launched the EOS R6 V, a video-first full-frame mirrorless camera, for the Indian market.
The release targets the growing segment of advanced creators who require high-resolution video capabilities and professional-grade stabilization for mobile production. By prioritizing video specifications, Canon aims to capture a larger share of the vlogging and cinematography market.
The EOS R6 V is equipped with a 32 MP full-frame sensor [5]. A primary feature of the device is its ability to perform 7K Open Gate full-frame recording [4], allowing creators more flexibility during the post-production cropping process.
To assist with handheld shooting, the camera includes in-body image stabilization (IBIS) that provides up to 7.5 stops of correction [3]. Canon also introduced a new RF-mount power-zoom lens to accompany the system, specifically the RF20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ.
Pricing for the new hardware varies based on the package. The body-only version is priced at ₹2,35,995 [1]. For users seeking a complete setup, the kit including the RF20-50mm lens is available for ₹3,55,995 [2].
The launch in India follows a strategic push by Canon India to provide tools that bridge the gap between enthusiast vlogging gear and high-end cinema cameras. The inclusion of the power-zoom lens is intended to facilitate smooth focal transitions, which are critical for professional video work.

The launch of the EOS R6 V signals a shift in Canon's strategy to treat video as a primary function rather than a secondary feature of still cameras. By integrating 7K Open Gate recording and high-tier IBIS, Canon is directly competing with cinema-line tools while maintaining a mirrorless form factor, catering to the 'prosumer' market where high-end YouTube and commercial content is produced.
