Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said the investigation into the Air India AI-171 crash in Ahmedabad is in its final stage.

The announcement comes as families of the victims seek closure and transparency regarding the disaster that decimated a Dreamliner aircraft. The results of the probe will likely determine the cause of the accident and influence compensation arrangements for the bereaved.

The crash occurred on June 12, 2025 [2], resulting in 260 fatalities [1]. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has already submitted its preliminary findings to the ministry.

"The investigation is in its final stage and the report will be out within a month," Naidu said to reporters [4].

Naidu reiterated these details during an event in GIFT City, Gujarat, where he emphasized the government's commitment to an open process. "The probe is in its final stages and we are ensuring full transparency," Naidu said [6].

The minister said that the final report is expected within about one month [3]. This timeline follows months of technical analysis and evidence gathering at the site near Ahmedabad.

"The AAIB has submitted its preliminary findings and we expect the final report in about a month," Naidu said [5].

The release of the final AAIB report is a critical step in the legal and regulatory aftermath of the AI-171 disaster. By establishing the official cause of the crash, the report will dictate whether the fault lies with mechanical failure, pilot error, or air traffic control, which in turn will determine the liability and the scale of financial compensation for the families of the 260 victims.
