Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav accused the BJP and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of mishandling donations for the Ram Temple.

The allegations intensify a political conflict over the management of one of India's most significant religious sites. By targeting the donation fund, Yadav is attempting to link financial irregularity to the BJP's religious narrative in Uttar Pradesh.

Yadav said the BJP government allowed wrongdoing in the name of religion. He alleged that irregularities and possible theft occurred within the donation fund and demanded a formal probe into the matter [1, 3].

In a statement regarding the controversy, Yadav said, "Ayodhya will be their Kurukshetra" [1]. He further suggested that his party possesses information that could assist investigators, stating, "We can help identify the conspirators behind this donation theft" [3].

These claims target Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath specifically. Yadav questioned whether the chief minister's frequent visits to Ayodhya were intended to oversee ongoing thefts [2].

The BJP has rejected these accusations. Sidharth Nath Singh, a BJP MLA, said Yadav's statements are misleading and aimed at creating communal tension [2].

The dispute centers on whether the funds collected for the temple have been managed with transparency, or if political actors have exploited the process for personal or party gain [1, 2].

"Ayodhya will be their Kurukshetra."

This confrontation signals a strategic shift by the Samajwadi Party to challenge the BJP on its own ideological turf. By focusing on financial transparency and alleged 'theft' rather than opposing the temple itself, Yadav is attempting to alienate the BJP from its base of religious donors and frame the current administration as corrupt even in its most sacred endeavors.
