Actress Alix Wilton Regan will voice the lead character in the upcoming game "Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis."
The casting marks a significant evolution for one of gaming's most enduring icons. By redefining Lara Croft for a modern audience, the developers aim to balance the series' historical roots with contemporary values of inclusivity and confidence.
Warner Bros. presented the project during the IGN Live 2026 [1] event. The title was first announced at The Game Awards 2025 [2], but the recent presentation provided deeper insight into the character's direction. Regan said the new version of Lara is designed to be unapologetic and bold.
"I have no Laras left behind – this new Lara is all about confidence and being unapologetic," Regan said.
The actress noted that the role allows her to connect the character's current trajectory with the origins of the franchise. The original Tomb Raider was released in 1996 [3]. Regan said that taking on the role for this specific incarnation feels like coming home to the very beginning of the series.
Regan said the character is intended to resonate with a wide variety of players. She said the new Lara Croft is for everyone because she is confident and bold.
This approach seeks to integrate the different eras of the character's history into a single, cohesive personality. By focusing on a version of Croft that is both inclusive and assertive, the production intends to maintain the character's legacy while expanding her appeal to a new generation of gamers.
“"I have no Laras left behind – this new Lara is all about confidence and being unapologetic."”
The transition to Alix Wilton Regan as the voice of Lara Croft suggests a strategic pivot by Warner Bros. to modernize the character. By blending the 1996 [3] origins with a more inclusive and 'unapologetic' persona, the studio is attempting to unify the fragmented history of the Tomb Raider timeline into a single, marketable identity for the current gaming era.
