Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation stone for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project in Puttaparthi on Friday.
The project aims to transform Andhra Pradesh into a major defense-manufacturing hub, aligning with the national Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative to increase self-reliance in military production.
Naidu said the AMCA project serves as a testimony to the state's ease-of-doing-business policy. He said that the speed and efficiency of the state's business environment were key factors in establishing the project in the region.
The development will cover an area of approximately 650 acres [1]. This sprawling site is designed to support the complex infrastructure required for the production of advanced fighter aircraft.
Local economic impacts are expected to be significant through the creation of employment. The initiative is projected to generate around 7,500 jobs [1], providing a boost to the regional workforce in the defense, and aerospace sectors.
By integrating high-tech manufacturing in Puttaparthi, the state government intends to showcase its ability to attract large-scale industrial investments.
