Green, a 64-year-old retired Royal Air Force pilot, conducted the run at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah [1, 2]. The vehicle reached a speed of 653.908 kilometres per hour, which is 406.320 miles per hour [4].
The car is powered by a system delivering a combined 1,600 horsepower [5]. This power allowed the vehicle to maintain stability while accelerating across the salt flats. The run establishes a new benchmark for the specific vehicle category of hydrogen-powered cars [3, 4].
