During the test, a 10-second siren sound [2] was broadcast to mobile devices across the country. The system reached millions of devices [1], signaling the government's ability to push immediate notifications to a vast majority of the population regardless of their location.
The Department of Home Affairs led the initiative to verify that the AusAlert infrastructure functions correctly under real-world conditions. The goal is to ensure the system can reliably alert the public in future emergencies [1], [2].
