Gameplay Group International and Paramount released a techniques overview trailer showcasing Zuko in the upcoming 2D anime action fighting game Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game.

The release marks a significant step for the franchise, as it brings the Avatar universe into the competitive fighting game genre. By providing a one-on-one fighter, the developers aim to translate the series' elemental combat into a mechanical system for players.

The trailer, posted via IGN, focuses specifically on Zuko’s firebending abilities and combat maneuvers. This follows the game's initial announcement at New York Comic Con in the summer of 2025.

According to Gameplay Group founder and chief corporate officer Victor Lugo, the goal is to ensure the experience is polished for the community. "For us, this is about delivering a fighting game that feels right in the hands of players from day one," Lugo said.

The title is scheduled to launch on July 2, 2026 [1]. It will be available across a wide range of hardware, including PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch [2].

The project represents a revival of the concept, as previous attempts at an Avatar-themed fighting game had been canceled. The current iteration focuses on a 2D style to capture the aesthetic of the original animation.

The launch of Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game suggests a strategic push by Paramount to monetize the Avatar IP through interactive media. By targeting multiple platforms and utilizing a 2D anime style, the developers are positioning the game to appeal to both nostalgic fans of the original series and the dedicated fighting game community (FGC).
