Bengaluru police recovered two gelatin sticks and arrested a suspect on Sunday near the venue of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled event [1].
The discovery occurred during routine security checks designed to protect the Prime Minister. The incident highlights the high-security risks associated with major political gatherings in the region.
Authorities found the potential explosive material on the outskirts of Bengaluru in Kaggalipura, near the ashram of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar [3]. The site was located approximately three kilometers [2] from the main event venue.
"We have recovered two gelatin sticks that could be used as explosives," the DIG of Bengaluru's Central Range said [1].
Police took one suspect into custody following the discovery [3]. A police spokesperson said the suspect is currently undergoing interrogation to determine the origin of the materials and the intent behind their placement [3].
The recovery took place the day before the scheduled visit of the Prime Minister [1]. Security forces have since increased their presence in the area to ensure the safety of the event and the convoy route [3].
"All necessary security measures are being intensified around the venue," a Karnataka state police official said [2].

The recovery of explosive materials shortly before a high-profile visit underscores the volatility of security environments surrounding national leaders. By identifying the threat three kilometers from the venue, security protocols successfully mitigated a potential risk, though the arrest of a suspect suggests a targeted attempt rather than an accidental find.
