Berry Alloys Limited will invest ₹1,200 crore [1] to establish an integrated manganese and steel materials complex in Andhra Pradesh.
The project aims to expand the industrial capacity of the Vizianagaram district and stimulate local employment through the production of essential metallurgy components.
The Kolkata-based company will build the facility at the Bobilli Growth Centre [1]. The complex is designed to produce manganese sinter, direct reduced iron (DRI), and carbon paste [2]. These materials are critical inputs for the broader steel industry, supporting both domestic infrastructure and manufacturing.
State authorities have allocated land for the project, though reports on the exact size vary. The Hindu reported that 94 acres [1] were provided at a concessional rate, while MSN reported the allotment as 93 acres [3].
Beyond the physical infrastructure, the investment is expected to have a significant impact on the regional workforce. The project is projected to create approximately 813 jobs [2].
This expansion represents a strategic move by Berry Alloys to integrate its production chain. By establishing a hub in the Bobilli Growth Centre, the company positions itself closer to key logistics and resource networks in southern India. The approval and land allotment for the facility were reported in July 2024 [1].
“Berry Alloys Limited will invest ₹1,200 crore to establish an integrated manganese and steel materials complex”
The establishment of a specialized manganese and steel hub in Vizianagaram suggests a strategic shift toward regional industrialization in Andhra Pradesh. By producing high-value intermediaries like carbon paste and manganese sinter, Berry Alloys is reducing reliance on external suppliers and strengthening the local supply chain for the Indian steel sector.
