The Cockroach Janta Party staged a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on June 6, 2026, to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The demonstration highlights growing public frustration over alleged systemic failures in India's national examination processes. Protesters are specifically targeting the Education Minister following controversies regarding the NEET paper-leak and irregularities within the CBSE Online School Management (OSM) system.
Founder Abhijeet Dipke arrived in Delhi around 7:30 a.m. [4] to lead the movement. The protest was scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. [3] and was granted permission to continue until 5 p.m. [2]. Despite the tension surrounding the demands, Dipke said his supporters should maintain a peaceful atmosphere and suggested they "offer flowers to policemen" [4].
Security was heavily reinforced across the city to prevent unrest. More than 1,000 security personnel were deployed throughout Delhi [5] to monitor the situation. The organizers emphasized that the event would remain non-violent, with spokesperson Vijeta Dahiya saying, "We are expecting a few hundred people" [2].
Environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk was also expected to join the call for accountability. Dipke said leadership changes within the ministry were necessary, stating, "Education Minister must go" [3].
The protest comes as a culmination of grievances from students and parents who argue that the paper-leak and OSM rows have compromised the integrity of academic certifications across the country. The CJP seeks to turn these administrative failures into a broader political demand for ministerial accountability.
“"Education Minister must go."”
This protest signals a shift where niche political entities, like the Cockroach Janta Party, are leveraging specific administrative failures in the education sector to challenge high-ranking government officials. By focusing on the NEET and CBSE OSM controversies, the movement taps into widespread student anxiety over meritocracy and transparency in national testing.
