The quake hit at 7:34 a.m. local time [1]. Authorities said the epicentre was in the department of Chocó [7], with the impact felt across Cali, Pereira, Manizales, Quibdó, Popayán, Armenia, and Medellín [3, 2].
Damage reports indicate that 61 buildings completely collapsed [1]. More than 1,500 homes were damaged [1] as the shaking tore through residential areas. Rescue operations are ongoing in the hardest-hit sectors to locate survivors trapped under rubble.
