Former NFL linebacker DeMarcus Ware sang the U.S. national anthem at the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game on Aug. 4, 2023 [3].

Ware, who played 12 seasons in the NFL [1], performed the anthem in Canton, Ohio [3]. During the event, he dedicated the rendition to his former teammate Demaryius Thomas, who died in 2021 [4].
"I want to dedicate this to my brother Demaryius Thomas," Ware said.
Despite his professional experience on the biggest stages of sport, Ware expressed significant anxiety before the performance. "I'm the most nervous I've ever been singing the anthem," Ware said.
Ware is recognized for his tenure with the Dallas Cowboys and the Denver Broncos. He won Super Bowl 50 with the Broncos during the 2015 season [2]. He reflected on the experience of the performance as a privilege.
"It was an honor to stand there and sing before the game," Ware said.
