Don Lemon, the former CNN anchor and host of The Don Lemon Show, has teased the possibility of running for president of the United States.
This development signals a potential shift from media commentary to active political candidacy for a figure known for challenging the nation's political establishment. His entry into the political arena would add a high-profile media personality to the landscape of potential candidates.
Lemon floated the idea during appearances in London, including the Sir Harry Evans Investigative Journalism Summit and a gathering hosted by Tina Brown. He made these comments on May 6, 2024 [1]. During these events, Lemon suggested that his experience and perspective could translate into effective governance.
"I know people are going to think I'm crazy and people are going to laugh about it: I think I could be President of the United States," Lemon said.
Lemon indicated that his motivations stem from a belief that he possesses the capability to manage the country more effectively than the current leadership. He specifically targeted former President Donald Trump in his assessment of the role.
"I could run this country better than Trump," Lemon said.
While he has not filed official paperwork or launched a formal campaign, he continues to weigh the option of entering the political fray. The former anchor has not provided a specific timeline for a decision but remains open to the prospect of a candidacy.
"I'm entertaining the possibility," Lemon said.

Lemon's flirtation with a presidential run reflects a growing trend of media figures attempting to leverage personal brands and large audiences into political capital. While he lacks a traditional legislative or executive record, his visibility provides a platform to test whether a media-centric approach can resonate with a primary electorate.
