Dropout CEO Sam Reich announced plans to create an animated version of the tabletop-RPG series “Dimension 20” this week [1].

The move signals a significant expansion for the independent streaming platform as it seeks to transition its niche improvisational content into more traditional, high-production formats. By moving into animation, the company can scale its storytelling beyond the limitations of live-action tabletop gaming.

Reich shared the news during Dropout’s first-ever For Your Consideration (FYC) event at the Laugh Factory in Los Angeles [1]. The event was designed to generate buzz and place the platform's content in front of Emmy voters, though Reich said he does not have high expectations for a nomination for the show “Game Changer” [1].

Despite the lack of certainty regarding awards, Dropout has made a concerted push for recognition. The platform's shows have entered 11 different Emmy categories [2]. This effort follows a busy production schedule, including the two-part season-7 finale of “Game Changer,” which was originally scheduled to premiere May 20, 2026 [3].

Regarding the new animated project, Reich said, "We’re excited to bring Dimension 20 into animation, which will let us explore the world in a new way" [1]. He said the goal for the company is incremental growth, stating, "All we’re trying to do is get a little better …" [1].

Reich also commented on the unexpected demographics appearing at the company's live functions. He said, "It’s wild to see Abby Lee Miller’s fans showing up at Dropout events" [1].

We’re excited to bring Dimension 20 into animation, which will let us explore the world in a new way.

Dropout's strategic pivot toward animation and formal awards campaigning suggests an ambition to move from a cult-favorite internet hub to a recognized player in the broader television landscape. By leveraging the existing intellectual property of Dimension 20, the company is attempting to diversify its medium while maintaining the improvisational spirit that attracts its core audience.
