The De Zeezuiper marsh near Bergen op Zoom in the Netherlands has dried up for the first time in approximately 700 years [1].

Forest ranger Erik de Jonge and other managers of the De Zeezuiper nature reserve said that the water levels dropped so significantly that the marsh bed became fully exposed [1, 2]. The sight of the dry basin has left officials stunned by the scale of the loss.
