Atari, developer Pipeworks, and Toho International are releasing a remastered version of the 2002 fighting game Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee [1].
The project revives a classic kaiju arena brawler for a new generation of hardware. By utilizing modern graphics and updated controls, the publishers aim to meet long-standing fan demand for a refreshed version of the original title [1, 3].
Built on Unreal Engine 5 [1], the remaster features a full roster of 12 playable Kaiju [4]. The game will be available on Steam for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch 2 [1, 4].
Atari set the retail price for the title at $29.99 [1]. To provide early access to the gameplay, a demo will release on Steam on Oct. 15, 2026 [4].
The full game is scheduled to launch on Nov. 3, 2026 [1, 3]. The announcement follows a reveal trailer showcased during gamescom 2026 [4].
“The remaster features a full roster of 12 playable Kaiju.”
This release signals a strategic move by Atari to capitalize on nostalgia and the enduring popularity of the Godzilla franchise. By targeting current-gen consoles and the Nintendo Switch 2, the developers are positioning the title to reach both legacy fans of the 2002 original and a broader modern audience through the use of Unreal Engine 5.
