Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said the opposition should stand with the nation during the current global fuel and economic crisis.
This call for unity comes as India navigates international energy instability and internal political friction over legislative priorities for women's rights.
During an interview with Aaj Tak, Saini defended the seven [1] saving mantras announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said citizens and political leaders should adopt these measures to mitigate the impact of the worldwide economic downturn. Saini highlighted the need for fuel-conservation measures to protect the national economy from volatile global markets.
Beyond economic concerns, Saini targeted the opposition's record on gender equality. He said the opposition has obstructed the passage of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, thereby hindering women's rights.
Saini framed the obstruction of the bill as a failure of the opposition to prioritize the empowerment of women. He said political differences should not supersede the fundamental rights of citizens or the stability of the country during a crisis.
"We must stand together as a nation during this crisis and adopt the seven saving mantras announced by the Prime Minister," Saini said.
The Chief Minister said national cohesion is essential for implementing the Prime Minister's economic strategies. He said the opposition's current stance on both the economic crisis and the women's rights bill creates unnecessary division within the country.
“The opposition has obstructed the passage of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, thereby hindering women's rights.”
Saini's remarks signal a strategic effort by the Haryana government to link national economic security with the ruling party's legislative agenda. By framing the opposition's resistance to the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam as a hindrance to women's rights, the administration is attempting to shift the political narrative from economic criticism to a question of social progress and national loyalty.
