Indian Railways displayed the first official visual design of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train at the Ministry of Railways in New Delhi.

The unveiling marks a critical milestone in India's effort to modernize its transit infrastructure by introducing high-speed rail technology. This project aims to drastically reduce travel time between two of the country's major economic hubs.

The design was showcased at Gate Number 4 of Rail Bhavan, the Ministry of Railways building [1]. The display serves to inform the public and stakeholders about the aesthetic and structural direction of the upcoming high-speed rail corridor [2].

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor spans 508 km [3]. According to project plans, the line will include 12 stations [4]. The total cost of the project is estimated at ₹1.1 lakh crore [4].

Officials have set a targeted launch date of Aug. 15, 2027 [2]. The project represents the first instance of bullet train technology being implemented within the Indian rail network.

Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw was present for the unveiling. The Ministry of Railways said the visual design represents the culmination of extensive planning and international cooperation to bring high-speed rail to the region [1].

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor spans 508 km.

The transition from conceptual planning to the public unveiling of a physical design suggests the project is moving into a more advanced stage of execution. By aligning the target launch with India's Independence Day in 2027, the government is framing the high-speed rail corridor as a symbol of national progress and technological sovereignty.
