Commercial LPG cylinder prices increased in Delhi and Kolkata on June 1 [1, 2].
These adjustments impact business operators and the hospitality sector, as higher fuel costs often lead to increased prices for consumers and services.
In Delhi, the price of a 19-kg commercial cylinder rose by ₹42 [1]. In Kolkata, the increase was higher, reaching ₹53.50 per 19-kg cylinder [1]. Other reports indicate a broader range of hikes between ₹42 and ₹53.50 per cylinder across different regions [2].
Separate reporting from the Economic Times said there was a significantly larger increase of ₹993 for 19-kg commercial cylinders in Delhi, which would bring the new price to ₹3,071.50 [6]. However, multiple other sources said the increase was in the ₹42 to ₹53.50 range [1, 2].
Smaller five-kg FTL cylinders also saw a price increase of ₹11 per unit [2].
Despite the rise in commercial costs, domestic LPG cylinder rates remained unchanged [1, 2, 3]. The price for a domestic 14.2-kg cylinder is currently ₹913 [3].
Industry data said that higher international energy costs and a rise in the Saudi contract price prompted the hike for commercial users [1, 3].
“Commercial LPG cylinder prices increased in Delhi and Kolkata on June 1”
The divergence between domestic and commercial pricing suggests a strategic effort to shield residential households from global energy volatility while passing international cost increases, specifically from Saudi contract prices, directly to businesses. This puts additional financial pressure on small-scale vendors and restaurants, who may be forced to raise menu prices to maintain margins.
