India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted the maiden flight test of its Project Kusha long-range surface-to-air missile shield on Friday, July 23 [1].
The successful test represents a significant step toward the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, aiming to reduce India's reliance on foreign military technology for high-altitude air defence [5].

The development of Project Kusha follows a broader push by the Indian government to build domestic capabilities in missile technology.
