Two specific hybrid varieties were introduced: Krisna459 and Godari234 [1]. These seeds are designed for high expansion, a critical quality for commercial popcorn production. Until this launch, the Indian market relied heavily on foreign seed varieties to meet the demand for popcorn maize [2]. The introduction of non-GMO options ensures that the domestic supply meets specific regulatory and consumer preferences regarding genetically modified organisms [3].
