The National Testing Agency said the NEET UG 2026 re-examination results were declared Thursday, July 16, via its official website [1, 2].
These results are critical for maintaining the medical admission and counseling schedule after the original May 3 exam was canceled due to paper-leak allegations [5, 6]. The re-examination took place on June 21 [5].
According to the NTA, 11.21 lakh candidates qualified for admission to undergraduate medical, dental, AYUSH, and allied courses [1, 3]. The highest score recorded in the test was 715 out of 720 [3].
Data on high-scoring candidates shows a strong trend among younger students. There were 138 candidates who scored above 690 [7]. Among these top performers, 93 percent were first-time aspirants [8], and 99 percent fell within the 17-19 age group [9].
Female candidates showed strong overall performance in the re-test. Reports said that women make up over 58 percent of the qualifying candidates [5], while other data suggests 56.8 percent of women who took the exam qualified [2].
Candidates can access their individual scorecards, and the final answer key, through the official portal at neet.nta.nic.in [1, 2].
“11.21 lakh candidates qualified for admission to undergraduate medical, dental, AYUSH, and allied courses.”
The release of these results marks the conclusion of a turbulent examination cycle characterized by security breaches and administrative delays. By qualifying over 11 lakh students, the NTA is attempting to stabilize the academic calendar and ensure that the 2026 medical intake is not pushed further back, which would have disrupted the training pipeline for India's healthcare workforce.
