Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force released footage showing missiles and drones launched toward U.S. military facilities this week.
The incident marks a significant escalation in regional tensions following a U.S. strike on an IRGC communications tower near Qeshm Island. The retaliatory actions target high-profile military hubs, including U.S. bases in Kuwait, the U.S. Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain, and a U.S. airbase in Qatar.
An IRGC Aerospace Force representative said the operations were "precise and concentrated missile strikes" [2]. The IRGC said these attacks were a direct response to the strike on the communications tower near Qeshm Island [1].
U.S. Central Command has disputed the Iranian account. A spokesperson for the command said the claims were "Totally false" [2].
While the U.S. denies the success of the strikes, Kuwaiti authorities provided a different account of the activity. Kuwait defence authorities said "defence systems intercepted missiles and drones" [2]. Reports indicate a drone strike at Kuwait International Airport resulted in one death and more than 60 injuries [3]. The deceased was identified as an Indian national [3].
Conflicting reports persist regarding the specific targets and the nature of the damage. Some footage suggests missiles were directed toward Qatar, while other reports focus on the Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain and facilities in Kuwait [1, 4]. The IRGC said damage at the Kuwait airport was the result of a U.S. Patriot missile error [2].
“"precise and concentrated missile strikes"”
The contradiction between IRGC claims and U.S. Central Command denials highlights a persistent information war in the Persian Gulf. The reported casualties at Kuwait International Airport, regardless of whether they were caused by Iranian drones or interceptor malfunctions, demonstrate the high risk to civilian infrastructure during these military exchanges.
