Israeli fighter jets fired two rockets [1] near Al-Najda Popular Hospital in Nabatieh, southern Lebanon, on Saturday.

The strike occurred amid escalating tensions as Israel carries out retaliatory operations against Hezbollah following reports of rockets fired toward northern Israel.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health said 32 people were injured in the raids [2]. Among those wounded were three medics [2]. The strikes damaged the hospital facility, which is located at one of the entrances to the city of Nabatieh [1, 2].

An Al Jazeera correspondent said an Israeli fighter jet launched the two rockets [1] in the vicinity of the hospital. The attack is part of a broader series of strikes targeting positions in southern Lebanon.

The Israeli army spokesperson said the military detected a number of rockets launched from Lebanon toward the north [1]. The spokesperson said some of those rockets were intercepted.

Conflicting reports have emerged regarding the total casualties in Nabatieh. While the Lebanese Ministry of Health reported 32 injuries [2], other reports indicated two deaths and two injuries. Additionally, some sources reported 12 members of the Lebanese security forces were killed, though the Ministry of Health reported only civilian injuries [2].

32 people, including three medics, were injured after Israeli jets fired rockets near Nabatieh city entrance.

The targeting of areas adjacent to medical facilities in southern Lebanon underscores the volatility of the current conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. The discrepancy in casualty figures between health officials and other reporting agencies suggests a chaotic environment on the ground, while the injury of medical personnel may lead to further diplomatic friction regarding the protection of healthcare infrastructure during active hostilities.
