India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar arrived in Moscow on Monday for a two-day visit to meet with President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov [2].
The meetings occur as both nations seek to deepen bilateral ties and coordinate their positions ahead of major multilateral gatherings. This visit serves as a diplomatic bridge to upcoming summits where the leaders of both countries will meet again.

During the talks, Jaishankar said that India-Russia economic ties have grown “very significantly” [4]. He said the relationship between the two nations is among the steadiest global relationships since World War II [3].
The diplomatic exchange also serves as a preparatory step for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and BRICS summits. President Putin said that Prime Minister Modi looks forward to meeting him at the SCO Summit and later welcoming him to India for the BRICS Summit [5].
