Original K3 members Karen Damen, Kristel Verbeke, and Kathleen Aerts have officially ended their reunion project following a final series of concerts.
The conclusion of the K3 Originals project marks the end of a nostalgic chapter for one of the most successful children's music acts in the Benelux region. By returning to the stage, the original trio provided a bridge between the group's early legacy and its current iterations.
The group performed their final shows during the weekend of June 5–7, 2024 [2]. The farewell culminated in a last concert on June 7, 2024 [2], held at the AFAS Dome in Antwerp, Belgium [3]. The event was also televised on VTM to reach a wider audience [3].
This reunion series was an extensive undertaking, consisting of nearly 50 shows [1]. Thousands of fans attended the final performances to witness the original lineup perform together one last time [4]. The atmosphere was emotional as the trio said goodbye to their audience.
Gert Verhulst, a key figure associated with the group's management and creation, said the end of the project was a definitive conclusion. "Definitief een streep eronder," Verhulst said [5].
The farewell was met with significant fan engagement, including messages of lifelong support. One fan said, "Voor altijd jullie K3" [4].
While the K3 brand continues with new members, the Originals project was designed as a temporary celebration of the group's roots. The members have now officially closed that chapter, leaving the current lineup to carry the franchise forward without the original trio returning for further scheduled reunion tours.
“Definitief een streep eronder.”
The dissolution of the K3 Originals project signifies a strategic transition for the brand. By completing a high-profile reunion tour and providing a definitive ending, the organization preserves the nostalgia of the original members while ensuring the current lineup remains the primary focus of the commercial entity without competing with past versions of the group.
