KFC opened a new drive-thru restaurant in the Bran area of Romania this month.
The expansion marks a strategic move by the brand to capture more transit and tourist traffic in the Tohanu Nou region. By introducing a drive-thru model in this specific locale, the company aims to increase accessibility for customers moving through the Bran Plaza area.
Sphera Franchise Group, which operates the KFC brand in Romania, managed the development of the site. The project required an investment of approximately EUR 1 million [1]. This capital injection funded the infrastructure necessary to support the chain's first drive-thru service in the area.
According to a report from Romania Insider, the operator opened the facility to modernize the dining experience for local residents and visitors. The site is located in Tohanu Nou, specifically within the Bran Plaza development.
While the brand has a wide presence across the country, the introduction of the drive-thru format in Bran represents a shift toward higher-convenience layouts. This approach allows the company to serve a higher volume of customers without requiring them to leave their vehicles, a trend increasing across European fast-food markets.
Representatives from the franchise group said the opening is part of a broader growth strategy for the brand within the region. The facility is now operational and available to the public.
“KFC has opened a new Drive Thru restaurant in the Bran area of Romania this month.”
The investment in Bran suggests that KFC and Sphera Franchise Group are prioritizing high-traffic tourist corridors in Romania. By shifting toward Drive Thru infrastructure, the brand is adapting to a consumer preference for speed and convenience, likely aiming to capture the 'on-the-go' market that characterizes the Bran region's tourism and transit flow.
