KP Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to invest INR 36,000 crore [2] in the renewable energy sector of Botswana.
This expansion signals a strategic shift for the Indian firm as it leverages domestic manufacturing strengths to export clean energy infrastructure to African markets. By combining large-scale capital investment with engineering expertise, the group aims to accelerate the energy transition in both India and Botswana.
To highlight the technical capabilities supporting these ambitions, WION recently visited the KP Green Engineering facility in Bharuch, Gujarat. KP Green Engineering serves as the manufacturing arm of the larger KP Group, focusing on the production of components necessary for renewable energy systems.
During the visit, the company showcased its integrated production capabilities. The facility currently manufactures 23 different products under one roof [1]. This centralized engineering approach is designed to support India's broader transition toward sustainable energy by reducing reliance on fragmented supply chains.
The partnership with the Government of Botswana focuses on establishing large-scale renewable energy projects. These initiatives are intended to increase the generation capacity of clean power within the country through a structured investment partnership [2].
The Bharuch plant serves as the operational backbone for these international ventures. By integrating the design and manufacture of 23 product lines [1], the company can scale its output to meet the demands of the Botswana agreement and other potential global projects.
KP Group said the goal is to provide advanced engineering solutions that facilitate a shift away from fossil fuels. The investment in Botswana represents a significant financial commitment to expanding the reach of Indian renewable technology on a global scale [2].

The move demonstrates a growing trend of Indian renewable energy firms transitioning from domestic suppliers to global infrastructure developers. By integrating manufacturing through KP Green Engineering and executing high-value investments in Botswana, KP Group is positioning itself as a vertically integrated player capable of managing both the hardware production and the project financing required for international energy transitions.
