Multiple Japanese companies have suspended factory operations following an earthquake in Kumamoto Prefecture on Thursday [1].

In the semiconductor industry, several major players reported shutdowns. Tokyo Electron, a manufacturer of semiconductor production equipment, stopped operations at its Kyushu headquarters and the Otsu plant [1]. Suntory said it has stopped operations at its plant in Kashima Town, Kumamoto Prefecture, where the company produces beer, and soft drinks [1]. The company is conducting safety checks to determine if the facility can resume production.
The earthquake affected multiple regions, with significant disruptions reported in Kashima Town and Kikuyo Town within Kumamoto, as well as the industrial hubs in Fukuoka [1]. Local authorities and company officials are currently evaluating the extent of the building damage to determine when it is safe for workers to return.
