A man in his 40s [1] died after a targeted shooting at an apartment complex in Langley, British Columbia, on Tuesday night.

The incident marks a spike in local violence, as it is the second shooting at the same complex in as many weeks [1]. This pattern of violence in a residential area has raised concerns about public safety, and targeted crime in the community.

Police officers arrived at the 5400 block of Brydon Crescent at approximately 11:34 p.m. [2] on Tuesday. Upon arrival, they found the victim suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. The area was secured as homicide investigators began processing the scene.

"Our officers responded at approximately 11:34 p.m. on Tuesday night," said RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Dan McLeod [2].

Investigators have not disclosed a specific motive for the attack, but they have indicated that the victim was specifically singled out. The RCMP is treating the case as a homicide investigation.

"We believe this was a targeted incident," said an RCMP homicide investigator [1].

Local authorities are continuing to search for suspects and evidence related to the shooting. The investigation remains active as police review surveillance footage, and interview residents of the apartment building.

"The investigation is ongoing and we are treating this as a homicide," said a Langley RCMP spokesperson [3].

"We believe this was a targeted incident,"

The occurrence of two shootings at a single apartment complex within a two-week window suggests a localized escalation of violence or a specific conflict playing out in a residential zone. Because the RCMP has classified the most recent death as a targeted homicide, it indicates the violence is likely linked to specific individuals rather than random acts of aggression, though it increases the risk to bystanders in high-density housing.
