Lian Li is releasing the Edge Platinum V2 power supply units featuring new dust-detection technology and modular cooling options in September [1, 2].
These updates address common maintenance challenges for PC builders by integrating sensors and physical filters directly into the power unit. The focus on modularity and dust management aims to extend hardware lifespan and simplify cable management in high-performance builds.
The new units include an LED dust-detecting indicator and a magnetic removable filter [1, 2]. This combination allows users to identify when the unit requires cleaning and provides a simple method to remove debris without dismantling the entire system.
Additional hardware upgrades include a snap-on fan and a USB header hub [1, 2]. These additions provide more flexible cooling and connectivity options for users with complex internal layouts.
Lian Li is also bringing back the Edge line's trademark 90-degree power connector [1, 2]. This design choice reduces cable tension and improves the aesthetic of the build by allowing cables to tuck more cleanly against the chassis.
The Edge Platinum V2 series will offer a maximum power rating of 1,350 W [1]. This capacity ensures the units can support power-hungry components, such as high-end GPUs and CPUs, while maintaining the efficiency standards associated with the Platinum rating.

The integration of an LED dust indicator and magnetic filters represents a shift toward 'smart' maintenance in PC components. By moving these features into the PSU, Lian Li is targeting the enthusiast market that prioritizes both long-term hardware health and a clean visual aesthetic, particularly in small-form-factor or high-airflow cases where dust accumulation is a primary concern.
