Lumentum Holdings Inc. reported fourth-quarter fiscal 2026 revenue of $1.01 billion [1] during an earnings call on Tuesday.
The results highlight a massive surge in the infrastructure required to support artificial intelligence. As data centers expand to handle AI workloads, the demand for high-speed optical connectivity has shifted from a steady growth pattern to a rapid acceleration.
The company saw year-over-year revenue growth of 109 percent [1]. This spike is attributed to accelerating AI-driven optical connectivity demand, which has pushed shipments and margins to record levels [4, 5].
Financial performance for the quarter included a non-GAAP earnings per share (EPS) of $3.23 [1]. This represents a significant increase over the adjusted EPS of $0.88 reported a year earlier [6]. Lumentum also reported a non-GAAP gross margin of over 50 percent [1].
President and CEO Michael Hurlston said the company is now looking toward the next fiscal year with increased expectations. Lumentum raised its revenue guidance for the first quarter of fiscal 2027 to a range between $1.225 billion and $1.275 billion [1].
The growth is largely driven by the ramp-up of optical circuit switches and near-packaged optics. These technologies allow data to move more efficiently between processors in AI clusters, a critical bottleneck for large-scale machine learning models.
“Lumentum reported record Q4 FY2026 revenue of $1.01 billion”
Lumentum's growth reflects a broader trend in the tech sector where hardware providers are capturing immediate value from the AI boom. While software companies are still proving their monetization strategies, the physical layer of the internet—the optics and switches that move data—is seeing tangible, record-breaking revenue gains as the physical infrastructure for AI is built out.
