Cofounders Pietro and Luigi have launched Manufact, a cloud platform specifically designed for Model Context Protocol (MCP) applications and servers.
The launch targets development teams that require a specialized infrastructure for MCP, positioning the service as a vertical cloud solution. This approach mirrors the relationship between Vercel and the Next.js framework, aiming to streamline the deployment process for developers.
According to the founders, the project evolved from an earlier initiative. "We used to be called mcp-use, and still build open source SDKs for MCP under that name," Pietro and Luigi said.
The company intends to simplify how developers manage the backend requirements of MCP apps. By providing a dedicated environment, Manufact seeks to remove the friction associated with setting up and scaling servers that adhere to the protocol.
"Manufact is an MCP vertical cloud designed for dev teams putting MCP Ap," Pietro and Luigi said.
The platform arrives as the ecosystem for MCP grows, creating a demand for hosted environments that can handle the specific connectivity, and data requirements of these AI-driven applications. The founders continue to support the broader community through their open source SDKs while scaling the commercial cloud offering.
“Manufact is an MCP vertical cloud designed for dev teams”
The launch of Manufact indicates a shift toward specialized 'vertical' clouds for AI protocols. By targeting the Model Context Protocol specifically, the company is betting that developers will prefer a tailored deployment environment over general-purpose cloud providers to reduce configuration overhead.
