Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed contract agencies on Monday to accelerate the construction of the capital city Amaravati [1].
The directive aims to fast-track the development of the region's administrative and urban core, ensuring the city becomes operational through integrated planning across Amaravati, Vijayawada, and Guntur [1].
During a review of 95 projects [1], Naidu established a minimum monthly progress target of 7.92% [1]. The total value of the projects under review is ₹50,999 crore [1]. The chief minister said the push for speed must not lead to a decline in construction standards.
"Expedite Amaravati works without compromising on quality," Naidu said [1].
The acceleration effort includes a specific focus on the development of Bank Street. Naidu said the state must ensure the timely completion of bank headquarters to establish the area as a financial hub [2].
Contract agencies are now required to adhere to the new monthly benchmarks to avoid delays in the broader infrastructure timeline. The administration is focusing on maintaining a balance between rapid deployment and strict quality control to ensure the long-term viability of the capital's assets [1].
