Technical glitches on the National Testing Agency portal are preventing many candidates from downloading their NEET UG 2026 re-exam admit cards today.
These disruptions create significant stress for students facing a high-stakes medical entrance exam. Any delay in obtaining essential documentation can lead to panic and logistical hurdles for candidates across the country.
The re-exam is scheduled for June 21, 2026 [2]. While the NTA has released the hall tickets, candidates report persistent server issues on the official website [3]. The agency said that students should attempt to download their admit cards via the Digilocker and UMANG apps as alternatives [2].
According to the NTA, around 400,000 candidates have successfully downloaded their admit cards [1]. However, this represents only a fraction of the total pool, as over 2.2 million candidates are registered for the re-exam [4].
The portal issues are attributed to a heavy server load. This surge was triggered by the implementation of two-factor authentication and a new bank-verification step designed for refund processing [5].
In addition to the download failures, candidates have reported problems with refund verification. To address these delays, the deadline for refund processing has been extended to June 22, 2026 [6].
The NTA said the system was updated to include military-grade safeguards to ensure the integrity of the process [7]. Despite these security measures, the infrastructure has struggled to handle the volume of concurrent users attempting to access their credentials.
“Around 400,000 candidates have successfully downloaded their admit cards”
The gap between the 400,000 successful downloads and the 2.2 million registered candidates suggests a systemic failure in the NTA's digital infrastructure. By prioritizing 'military-grade' security and complex verification steps over server scalability, the agency has created a bottleneck that threatens the smooth administration of one of India's most competitive exams.
